The Consciousness Studies Program is a 14-week morning program, September through December, that integrates scientific exploration, artistic work, and meditative practice. Using a phenomenological approach as a springboard for self-development and transformation, students practice rigorous observation of nature, engage in a variety of the arts, and hone capacities for inwardly picturing sequences of natural phenomena. The program fuses the natural sciences with alchemy, psychology, and esoteric studies.

Alchemy, often thought to be the source of modern chemistry, is actually closer to being the source of psychology. The alchemists’ search for gold was really the search for the gold in the human soul–the gold manifesting as a soul that was warm and noble. To find the gold in a human soul, it is necessary to go through transformational activities and exercises. Such activities are the root of the curriculum of the Consciousness Studies Program.

The morning is divided into three periods. The first period, focusing on the self, consists of concepts and practices found in the esoteric science of inner work and includes lectures on self-development and exercises on concentration and meditation. The second period focuses on the world, with blocks of study on the skeleton, projective geometry, the four elements theory, and the alchemical laboratory. The third period is devoted to artistic practice and provides a breathing between self and the world . Arts included are drawing, modeling, and geometric studies.

Consciousness Studies can be of great benefit to teachers, artists, scientists, therapists, and those concerned with ecology and protection of the earth. Working in a daily rhythm of inner work, scientific exploration, and artistic activities gives the student powerful tools for self-transformation.

The Consciousness Studies Program offers:

What graduates say about the program:

Consciousness Studies is the best gift I’ve ever given myself. Truly a life changing program. The changes were subtle, yet profound. Joyce Coy, MS

I speak of this program with those I meet and recommend it for the unique energy and tools it offers towards meeting the pressing issues of this very critical time in which we live. Jean-David Derreaumaux

By the end of the program, each student recognizes that this has been no traditional course of learning but a carefully crafted initiatory journey, with the alchemical tree of life as its underpinning. Linda Sussman, Ph. D.
